The Whispering Woods is a location visited in Paper Mario: The Origami King. It is the home to the Whispering Trees.

History

During some events of Paper Mario: The Origami King, Mario and Olivia crash into the woods after escaping Peach's Castle. They meet Ol' Grandsappy and the Whispering Trees here, who show them the way to Toad Town.

Layout

Area 1

A set of mountains with a large tree that can be knocked down with the 1000-Fold Arms. Confetti can be knocked from the trees. A ? Block on the right-hand side contains a Mushroom.

Area 2

Has a Save Block on the right side, Peach's Castle is visible from here. One hole is next to the Save Block.

Area 3

The largest area, at the start, there is a not bottomless hole next to one of the trees. The bushes can be hit to find confetti. Two more holes are on the right, along with a spike trap. The ? Block here contains a coin bag. Going down the hill, there is a hole near the southern tree.

To the far right, there are trees with vines hanging from them. Pulling the vines gives a 10-Coin, confetti, a matching game, more coins, and a Faded Fire Flower. Completing the leaf matching game rewards Mario with a Shriveled Mushroom, coins, a 20 HP heart, and a confetti bag. When all tiles are matched, a Super Star is given, which can be used to pass the spike trap and open the chest on the left-hand side. Collectible number 1 is in here.

The tree vine in the middle releases three objects when pulled. First, a wilted flower falls into the pond, then a broken boom box, and finally, Birdo. All three are rejuvenated.

Area 4

Upon the first visit, this area is a loop. Ol' Grandsappy is found here. After the story segment here is finished, the right hand exit will open up.

Area 5

A Save Block and two holes are immediately visible. Some Folded Goombas are on the hill, and another is hidden in the next Whispering Tree. The chest on the left side has collectible number 2. Any wilted objects can be thrown into the pond to be rejuvenated.
