Whammino Mountain is the fifth level of World 1, and it is the only entirely optional level in the game. Spinies, as well as the only Lakitu in the game, first appear here. In front of the Comet Piece lies a slot for a gate scrap, but the scrap is unobtainable until a chain reaction is caused later in the level, moving the scrap to a reachable location. There is an underground part to this level through two pipes, but as the first pipe is covered, it can't be entered until you reach the pipe at the far end of the level.
The chain reaction also reveals a Toad taped to one of the clouds. If you free him, he opens the Whammino Mountain Sticker Shop.
