Toads are one of the most abundant species in the Paper Mario series. They are featured as the citizens of Toad Town, Rogueport, and Toads are loyal subjects to Princess Peach and are very helpful to Mario in his adventures. In a way, he acts as Princess Peach's personal servant. They don't really do any major work, but you can see them as guards, and other various jobs throughout the castle, in Paper Mario.

Super Paper Mario[]
In Super Paper Mario, the recurring character from the Mario games known as Toad makes his debut in the Paper Mario series. In this game, he is the only in game Toad to make an appearance (aside from those appearing in the arcade mini-game). Toad appears in the intro of Super Paper Mario where he is seen describing Peach's kidnapping to the Mario Bros. at their pad. Toad is also the 256th and final Catch Card in the game.

In Sticker Star, they remain as one of the only friendly NPCs in the game.
Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam[]
In Mario and Luigi: Paper Jam, Toads are NPCs, as well as required collectables.
Paper Mario: Color Splash[]
Paper Mario: The Origami King[]
In Paper Mario: The Origami King, Toads are NPCs, as well as tracked collectibles. Many of them are hidden in every area of the game, and will help Mario once saved. They can be found folded into butterflies, beetles, lizards, crumpled balls, and in various other hiding spots. Most look mostly the same, their most distinct difference being their various folds and creases. There are, however, some more key Toads that wear various accessories to differentiate themselves from normal Toads.
