Sweetpaper Valley

Sweetpaper Valley is the first area in the third chapter of Paper Mario: The Origami King. It is connected to Shogun Studios and its subsequent attractions (Big Sho' Theatre and the Ninja Attraction) from the South and to Breezy Tunnel and Scorching Sandpaper Desert from the North. There is nothing of interest in this area and it exists purely for the story segment that happens here and to end Bobby's story ark after his amnesia was cleared at the end of Chapter 2.

Story[]

After freeing Shogun Studios from the clutches of Rubber Band , Mario, Olivia and Bobby make their way to Sweetpaper Valley (the way to which was previously blocked by a giant boulder). Upon arriving and making their way to the entrance to Breezy Tunnel, King Olly appears, and drops a giant boulder on Olivia, after she tries to reason with him. Mario and Bobby head off to The Princess Peach in order to rescue her.

After returning from the Princess Peach with a strange red metal box, Bobby opens the box to reveal his old friend's fuse inside. Bobby explains that he lost his fuse after the Paper Macho Gooper Blooper that Mario defeated earlier attacked his ship and knocked him overboard. Bobby then attaches the fuse to his head and runs at the boulder. Mario tries to stop him, but is thrown backwards as Bobby sacrifices himself for Olivia. When Olivia discovers this, she becomes extremely disheartened and runs off into Breezy Tunnel. Mario must head into the tunnel to find Bobby's spirit, who encourages Mario to make Olivia laugh. Mario equips the Goomba Mask to cheer Olivia up.

Appearance[]

Sweetpaper Valley is similar in appearance to Marmalade Valley from Paper Mario: Color Splash, in that it has an orange coloration with a Grand Canyon kind of feel. In fact it is a canyon, although the game calls it a valley.
