Spikes are enemies that appear in Sticker Star and Color Splash. They are green, sporting blue hair and small black shells on their backs. They attack Mario by throwing spiked iron balls at him, or jumping on him. In Sticker Star, Spikes appear in World 2 and in several of the 2D sections. The balls are thrown in a straight line, so in the 2D sections they must be jumped over or hit with the Hammer. In battle, they attack by jumping on Mario or preparing a spiked ball over its head to throw on the next turn. They are considered spiked enemies while holding the ball, but they will drop it if hit. When defeated, Spikes have a chance to drop Spike Ball Stickers. In Color Splash, Spikes are primarily found in the Yellow Region of the game, but do appear in several other places as well. They are found inside the Kiwano Temple, where they act similarly to their last appearance. Ludwig summons Spikes within his boss fight as well. In this fight, they attack from the Ludship, but using a Tail card to deflect their attack will instantly defeat them.
Sticker Star
Spikes appear as enemies in 2-3: Sandshifter Ruins. They have a small chance of dropping a Spike Ball Sticker.
Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam
Spikes appear as enemies in Doop Doop Dunes.
Color Splash
Spikes appear as enemies in Kiwano Temple and Sunset Express. Two spikes appear in theLudwig boss fight, where they can only be defeated by using the tail to send their spike balls back at them. One also appears as an NPC in Sunset Express.
Origami King
Spikes appear as folded-up versions of themselves as enemies. One particular spike becomes a partner until he is lead back to a table with a Sombrero Guy sitting at it.
