The Poison Shroom is an item from Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and Super Paper Mario. In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, the item is a recipe that can be cooked up by Zess T. by using a Slow Shroom and an Inky Sauce or a Trial Stew and a Dried Bouquet. When used, Mario will be given the poison effect, and slowly take damage each turn. At random, however, Mario can eat Poison Shroom and recover HP instead of losing it. Poison Shrooms also appear on the Bingo Roulette. If Mario spins three Poison Shrooms, he and his partner will have their HP, FP, and SP cut in half. The entire Audience will also leave battle. In Super Paper Mario, Poison Shrooms can be dropped randomly by enemies; mostly by Cursyas, Gloombas, Zombie Shrooms, and Ghoul Shrooms. If the player uses a Poison Shroom, they will be given the Poison status effect, and will take 1 HP of damage until an item that can cure poison is used. They are also used in recipes to make things such as Standard Chocolate and Dangerous Delight.
