A Paragoomba is a regular Goomba with wings. In the first three games, they are identical in stats, but in later games, they have higher health and attack power. Unlike regular Goombas, Paragoombas can fly, and therefore are immune to ground-based attacks, such as Mario's hammer. If Mario jumps on them, they lose the wings and become regular Goombas. When airborne, they usually attack by swooping at their target.

History[]

Paper Mario/Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door[]

In Paper Mario and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, they swoop down to attack. They can be found on Goomba Road, in the Rogueport Sewers, and in various places around Chapter 1 of TTYD. One Paragoomba is notably important, as he informs Bowser that Mario has obtained the last Crystal Star.

Super Paper Mario[]

In Super Paper Mario, Paragoombas have only 1 HP, but must be jumped on to get rid of its wings before they can be defeated. Rather than attack, they simply hop around, similar to a Green Paratroopa.

Paper Mario: Sticker Star[]

In Paper Mario: Sticker Star, Paragoombas guard Goomba Fortress and roam the deserts of World 2. They attack by jumping on Mario, and while they fly low enough to be hit by Fire Flowers, they still dodge Hammer attacks, barring the Hurlhammer. Several sub-species are introduced such as the 5-Fold and Shiny variants.

Paper Mario: Color Splash[]

In Paper Mario: Color Splash, Paragoombas can only be battled when summoned by Whistle Snifits. They dodge Hammers like in the previous game, but rather than jumping, they once again attack by swooping. A Paragoomba Enemy Card can be found in the Sacred Forest.

Paper Mario: The Origami King[]

In Paper Mario: The Origami King, origami Paragoombas appear in early-game areas such as Picnic Road and Autumn Mountain. They can now be hit directly by Hammer strikes, but will not lose their wings if hit this way. On their turns, they use the Flyin' Headbonk attack, where they ram into Mario. Regular Paragoombas don't appear, but are mentioned by a Goomba met in a café.

Tattles[]

Paper Mario: This is a Paragoomba. Obviously, Paragoombas are Goombas with wings. Max Hp: 2, Attack Power: 1, Defense Power: 0 You can't hit 'em with the Hammer while they're airborne. If you damage 'em, they'll fall to the ground and become ordinary Goombas.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door: That's a Paragoomba. Basically a Goomba with wings. I'm jealous! Maximum HP is 2, Attack is 1, and Defense is 0. You can't hammer it while it's flying, but rough it up and it'll totally plummet!

Super Paper Mario: That's a Paragoomba. It is essentially a Goomba...with wings. A flying underling... Max HP is 1 and Attack is 1. Stomp it to turn it back into a Goomba... Then you can stomp it like a normal Goomba, I guess... Ahh...the life of a Goomba...
