Paper Mistake Buzzy Beetle is a boss in Paper Mario: The Origami King. As its name implies, it is a large Paper Macho in a shape of a Buzzy Beetle. It is the third/last Paper Macho boss, the third/penultimate boss of Chapter 5, and is overall the 13th boss of the game.
Summary[]
The Paper Mistake was made by Scissors. With many faces of Bowser's minions acting like armor, Scissors unleashes the Paper Mistake Buzzy Beetle in order to "warm up" Mario for him. Despite its power, Mario is able to strip the Paper Mistake Buzzy Beetle's powers and defeat him.
Attacks[]
The Paper Mistake Buzzy Beetle is unique, as unlike the previous two Macho Bosses, it doesn't use its main attacks, instead using magic. In its first phase, it can launch out Paper Koopa Heads that will circle around Mario, and then after a while will launch itself at Mario. It can also launch out red-colored Koopa heads that are faster than the previous forms. Another attack it can perform involves launching a light pink-colored magic pulse with Bowser's minions around it. The Paper Mistake Buzzy Beetle's most powerful attack is charging up an oval-shaped target blast and launching it at Mario. It can also go inside its shell and spin in rapid succession, pushing Mario back to the wall.
After the Paper Mistake Buzzy Beetle loses its armor, it will go inside its shell and will spin all around, attempting to deal contact damage at Mario.
Strategy[]
First Stage[]
The Paper Mistake Buzzy Beetle comes right after the Handaconda, the 12th boss. To beat it, the Player has to hit five Paper Koopa heads with the hammer, all the while avoiding the Paper Mistake Buzzy Beetle's magic pulse. After a few of those, it starts to use Kamek's magic to launch out an oval-shaped target magic blast to try to damage Mario. In this phase, Mario must avoid the Paper Mistake's magic blast until it is stunned, then run up to the paper Mistake Buzzy Beetle and attempt to pull of Kamek. After the Paper Mistake Buzzy Beetle will regain its powers and hide in its shell. It will then spin and push Mario away. It will repeat the attack until Kamek is pulled off.
Second Stage[]
Once Mario has taken Kamek away, the Paper Mistake Buzzy Beetle's magic is now gone. In this phase it will go into its shell and try to mow Mario down. For this phase of the fight, wait until the Paper Mistake Buzzy Beetle stops spinning and falls over, then hit the weak spot on the Paper Mistake Buzzy Beetle's stomach with the hammer. After three hits to the stomach, it is defeated.
Trivia[]
- The Paper Mistake Buzzy Beetle is a stand-out boss from the previous twelfth bosses beforehand, as Mario must "pull" something in order to damage it.
