Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is a Nintendo Switch remake of the GameCube game with the same name. An announcement trailer for it was shown during the Nintendo Direct on September 14, 2023. It was released on May 23rd 2024.
Changes from the original[]
- There are more pipes to all previous chapters.
- The Guard and Superguard's words went from "Nice" and "Great" to "Guard" and "Superguard" respectively.
- Every instance of the word "Shroom" has been changed to "Mushroom". For example, Life Shrooms are referred to as Life Mushrooms, Honey Shrooms are called Honey Mushrooms, and so on.
- Attack FX G (originally Peach giggling) has replaced Attack FX R as the badge which Hooktail is weak to. The sound effect of R, which was previously the chirp of a cricket, is now the croak of a frog. This aligns much more with the Japanese release of the original game, which also used a similar sounding frog call. The Peach giggling sound effect of the original Attack FX G was also moved to Attack FX P.
- Attack FX R does remain in the game as well, but was moved to the badge shop. After chapter 6, the badge becomes available for purchase at the price of 100 coins. Instead of playing cricket chirps, it uses Bowser’s growls. This sound effect previously belonged to the aforementioned Attack FX P.
- Many themes have new variations or extended versions. (Eg. Magnus Von Grapple,Doopliss,Magnus Von Grapple 2.0)
- Prince Mush and Whacka are now the new superbosses unlike in the original.

Trivia[]
- In the Paper Mario TTYD remake trailer, a photo of all the party members from the first Paper Mario game can be briefly seen.
- In the remake, Vivian's trans female identity has been reinstated in all regions.
- Chapter 3: In the Glitz Pit, fight The Bottomless Vacuums: The Fuzz, and keep the green one unharmed. It will summon another one which gives star points, then kill that one, and just guard or superguard if it attacks, then keep doing that, and you'll get star points pretty fast, for a bit. Same goes for Hamma, Blamma, and Flare, grind them, they got good Star points.
