Merlee is the charm person in Paper Mario, Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door and Super Paper Mario. She talks only in rhymes. In Super Paper Mario, she is met in Chapter 2-4, where she is hiding from Mimi in the bathroom. She uses her "magical cheering" to demolish Mimi's invincibility. She appears to be a rival of Merluvlee, as Merluvlee said while doing the hidden quest to get the Piccolo pixl: Now we're even. Tippi/Tiptron also states that they were classmates.
Paper Mario[]
She resides in a hidden alley way behind an alley way behind the Toad House in Dry Dry Outpost. She uses her card tricks to power up Mario. She offers 3 payments plans, and the length of time for which Merlee's spells last is dependent upon which plan Mario picks. Merlee's spells take effect randomly during or after battles, and the effects they bestow upon Mario are also random. When activated, a spell will either increase the amount of coins Mario receives after a battle, double the amount of Star Points he earns, increase his attack power, or decrease the damage he takes from enemies. After a period of time, her spell wears off, forcing him to pay her if he wants their effects again.
Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door[]
She can be found in Rogueport Sewers, where she performs the same service in this game as in the last game, except she uses a magic box to enhance Mario's luck. During the events of this game, she submitted a trouble to the Trouble Center in Rogueport. Mario ultimately took on this trouble by agreeing to find the recipe for a Heartful Cake. Toce T., a resident of Petalburg, told Mario the recipe: Ruin Powder mixed with Cake Mix. When Mario told Merlee the recipe, she asked Mario to get her some Cake Mix. Mario purchased some Cake Mix at the Pianta Parlor for 6 Pianta Tokens, then delivered it to Merlee.
Super Paper Mario[]
In this game, she lives in a mansion called Merlee's Mansion, to have her give them the Pure Heart, when Mario and the gang get to her mansion, she is missing, the only one there is her "hand maid", Mimi. She tells Mario that she is in a different room, which is a trap(all of the rooms are),if Mario finds a key in one of the rooms, he can unhook a Gnaw, which is chained to a door, and it will attack Mimi, later, Mimi is angry at Mario for breaking her favorite vase, so she puts the gang into slavery to work it off with a payment of 1 million rubees. After obtaining a secret passcode and getting Slim, Mario gets 1 million rubees from a safe and are freed from slavery. The gang then makes it to her basement where she sends a vision to them, telling them she is down there, and for them to quickly find her before her vision cuts out. They soon find Mimi, who they think is Merlee, who bargains with them with the Pure Heart but the real Merlee sends a warning to them, Mario refuses Mimi's demands and she turns to her true form. After the gang gets to the bathroom's, they find Merlee in a toilet, she tells them Mimi stuffed her in there. Just then, Mimi enters and she morphs into Merlee and the 2 of them fight. They both settle on letting Mario choose which one is the real Merlee by playing "That's My Merlee." Mario picks the right one and Mimi turns back to her true form and fights Mario. Merlee uses her magic to undue her invincibility and cause Mario to do damage on her. After she's defeated, Merlee gives them the Pure Heart.
She later moves to Flopside to help Mario and his crew. Apparently, Merlee and Merluvlee were rivals ever since they were classmates. She begins a trading sequence by requesting Mario to bring her a crystal ball from Merluvlee. Merlee had apparently helped Merluvlee greatly before the events of Super Paper Mario, as Merluvlee tells Mario and friends to tell Merlee "Now we're even" as they give her the crystal ball. In the end, Merlee gives Mario a key to unlocking the building that's holding Piccolo.
Her charms work differently in this game than the others, as she'll make Mario get a helpful item everytime he kills 25 enemies for 15 items. For a medium price, she'll give Mario a helpful item everytime he kills 20 enemies for 15 items. And for the most expensive, she will give him a helpful item if he kills 15 enemies for 25 items. She is very useful for the pit of 100 trials. She will, however, allow the player to receive all levels of charms for free if Mario brought her the crystal ball from Merluvlee.
