Mansion Patrol is a mini-game featured in Super Paper Mario. It can be found in the game room in Flipside, and requires 10 tokens to play.
Gameplay[]
The mini-game centers around the task of clearing a haunted mansion of Boos. These Boos will attack Mario and company in increasingly difficult waves (to a total of 10 waves). In order to defend themselves, Mario and company must fend off the Boos with a special gun, shooting the Boos as they appear.
Contact with a Boo results in the loss of one life. When all lives are lost, the game ends, and Mario and his friends are returned to the game room.
Getting Items[]
Mansion Patrol features various power-up items taken from the series. They are dropped at random by Toads, who can be rescued by shooting the Boos holding them hostage.
Mushroom: Adds one life to Mario's current total.
Flower: Increases the fire rate of Mario's gun for a short time.
Star: Temporarily stuns all on-screen enemies.
Defeating Enemies[]
Several enemies make an appearance in Mansion Patrol. While all of the enemies are aggressive Boos, each type has slightly different characteristics.
Boo: Just a regular Boo. Nothing of particular to note; attacks in a straightforward manner.
Dark Boo: A dark version of the regular Boos. They attack at a significantly faster rate than regular Boos.
Atomic Boo: A very large Boo. They have a much higher HP than regular Boos, and therefore require more shots to defeat.
Scoring Points[]
Points are accumulated using a combo system; the more Boos Mario and company defeat without missing a shot, the higher the point multiplyer.
Featuring a return of the Action Command system of sorts, combos are represented by the different levels of Action Commands used in previous games (i.e. Good, Wonderful, Excellent, etc.).
