Macho Grubba is Grubba after transforming into this super body thanks to the Gold Star and boss fight in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and its upcoming 2024 remake. He is the true main boss of Chapter 3, is the third/final boss of that Chapter and is overall the six major boss of the game. When he is like this, he looks similar to Tubba Blubba.
Summary[]
After Grubba has been caught, he uses the Crystal Star to become a hulking behemoth, before battling with Mario and his Partner he explains the whole reason why he has been so buff and looking somewhat young (despite being 60 or older) is because he used the Crystal Star to suck the life out of various Glitz Pit fighters, like King K., Bandy Andy,Prince Mush, and other fighters. After Macho Grubba is defeated, he transforms into a subdued Grubba and Mario and his friends receive the 3rd Crystal Star, theGold Star.
Attacks[]
At the start of the turn Macho Grubba will first use a states that lets him have two turns, and will usually starts attacking by increasing his defense or attack power and will use the following three attacks at random, he will back off stage, and will then jumps high and do a butt slam on either Mario or Partner which can take away 4 HP, a backflip that will hit either Mario or Partner that can also take away 4 HP, or will do a punch thrust that can hit both Mario and Partner that can also take away 4 HP (this move can flip Koops over on his shell). He can increase his status in various ways and make himself dodgy. Some of his moves when he was younger were so deadly that they were considered "illegal".
Tips/Tricks[]
Despite looking extremely powerful, Macho Grubba's not really that tough. In the first two turns the Player can go all out on him, his pattern is also quite simple, he will first boost himself with either an attack boost or a defense boost, and then will do one of the fallowing three attacks.
Trivia[]
- Macho Grubba is the first boss in Paper Mario The Thousand-Year Door to gain the ability to attack two times per-turn.
- If Koops is hit Macho Grubba's charging punch if not blocked, it will be considered a jump and will flip him over.
- The reason for Macho Grubba's rather high HP (especially for this early in the game) is likely because at the start of the fight, Macho Grubba will use a turn to gain the ability to have two turns, and if its disabled he will always do it again, so if Macho Grubba have been given less HP (as in the same amount as Rawk Hawk or higher), Macho Grubba would have very few chances to attack and as such, would have already been defeated by the Player.
- Macho Grubba is very similar to Tubba Blubba from Paper Mario. For the fallowing reasons:
- Both are larges Spikes.
- Both bosses can do a butt bounce attack or an attack that involves their fists.
- Both bosses' have "ubba" in the last names.
- Both are the main bosses of their Third respective Chapters, and are also the sixth bosses of their respective games.
- If the Player lets Macho Grubba increases his Attack Boost, he can do up to 17 damage, which is the highest attack power in the game.
- Macho Grubba is the first boss in Paper Mario The Thousand-Year Door to not be related to either the Shadow Queen or Grodus.
- Macho Grubba is one of the only bosses to directly use the same powers as the star that Players obtain in the Chapter, as he is capable to increase his strength or defense like the move Power Lift.
