Ice Bros. make their Paper Mario debut in Paper Mario: Sticker Star. They can be found in Worlds 4, 5 and 6; in World 5, they only appear in the first section of Rugged Road after freezing it with an ice-related Thing. They can toss ice balls at Mario that freeze him; if an enemy enters battle with a frozen Mario, they get a First Strike, even if they normally wouldn't. They can also be seen in Bowser's Sky Castle during the first phase of the battle with Bowser, as one of the enemies that can be summoned from the doors.
In Paper Mario: Color Splash, they appear in Lighthouse Island, Fortune Island, and Black Bowser's Castle. Their ice balls can still freeze Mario out of battle, and in battle, they deal more damage. They no longer have Defense.
