The Riddle Tower is a prodigiously grand tower in front of the garden in the Palace of Shadow. It is surrounded by water and statues and serves as the second area of the palace.
History[]
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door[]
Upon Mario's first visit, the tower's entrance is blocked off by a large statue. In order to get inside, Mario must blow up Chain Chomp busts scattered near the tower and sail to the door.
Inside, the tower has eight rooms each containing riddles that vary in difficulty. In total, the Riddle Tower contains three floors. The interior design of the tower, such as its unique riddles or innovative architecture, contains a dark and gloomy atmosphere that brings mystery and wonder throughout the entire length of the time Mario ventures though the tower. The first floor and second floor both contain four rooms with riddles, while the last floor is the floor that contains stones where the keys gained from solving the riddles must be inserted. On the third floor of the tower, it contains a large planetarium-like model representing the solar system.
If stuck on a riddle, Goombella will provide Mario with additional information about it. For each riddle solved, Mario will receive a Palace Key that must be placed into stones on the third floor. Once finished with the task, the camera that shows the corridor near where Gloomtail resides will reveal the hidden stairs and rooms. Afterwards, Mario may continue his adventure onto the next journey in the Palace of Shadow.

Trivia[]
- In the Cartoon Network show Steven Universe, an area called the Lunar Sea Spire appears very similar to the Riddle Tower. It is possible that the creators took inspiration from the Riddle Tower's design.
