The Earth Vellumental is a boss from Paper Mario: The Origami King. It takes the appearance of a large origami tortoise and lives at the bottom of the Earth Vellumental Temple. It is the first Vellumental boss, is the first boss of Chapter 1 and overall the very first boss of the game.
History
Paper Mario: The Origami King
Not much is known about the Earth Vellumental, it lives in the bottom of the Earth Vellumental Temple, when Mario and Olivia arrived Mario would fall on top of a shell-like ground area, which turns out to be the Earth Vellmental, despite its effort, it was defeat.
Attacks
Attack-wise, the Earth Vellumental attacks depending what part it has. It can create an earth shock wave with either legs, can do a tail swipe with its tail, can go inside it's shell and preform an earthquake attack, or spewing out sand from its mouth three times.
In-Battle
The Earth Vellumental is protected by its large green shell. The player must align the attack pads with the Vellumental's feet, head, and tail. After using the hammer on each of these, the Vellumental will hide within its shell. Using the Magic Circle, Mario can use the 1,000-Fold Arms to flip over the boss and hammer it with his fists.

- The Earth Vellumental is the only boss in Paper Mario: The Origami King to have any Stage Hazards or have any specie gimmicks.
- The Earth Vellumental is very similar to Hooktail from Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door:
