A Dried Shroom is an item in the Paper Mario series that is notorious for being what is one of the most useless items ever, as it only restores 1 HP and nothing more. It is basically a dried-up mushroom. If it is cooked, is will either become a Fried Shroom, Shroom Fry, or a Mistake.
During Chapter 2 of Paper Mario, to progress the story line, it is required to buy a Dried Shroom and then a Dusty Hammer to go to the house of Moustafa.
In Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, if one buys a Dizzy Dial after buying a Dried Shroom at Westside Goods, they get access to the Pianta Syndicate building. A Dried Shroom is also given to Punio by her sister Petuni, and is notably the treasure found inside the Palace of Shadow (Only revealed after returning once the Shadow Queen is defeated).
In Super Paper Mario, Dried Shrooms serve the same purpose as the previous two games, but are now commonly dropped by poisonous enemies once defeated. Dried Shrooms can also cure poison in this game.

Trivia[]
- If Zess T. cooks a Dried Shroom before you complete her trouble, it will be a Mistake, which is actually better than a Dried Shroom. (Dried shrooms restore one HP, while Mistakes restore 1 HP and 1 FP.)
- In Super Paper Mario, its description says “A dried shroom.”
