Coins are a form of currency used throughout the Paper Mario series. They are found scattered across the overworld in every game. Found in a variety of hidden places, blocks, and side quests, coins are the most common item in the series. They are also obtained after defeating enemies, being one of the most common rewards. In the first three games specifically, as well as in The Origami King, the most important use of coins is to purchase items from the many shops in the game, as well as for quest progression. In Sticker Star and Color Splash, coins become much more common, being rewarded in hordes at the end of levels. They are still used for purchases at shops, now in order to buy stickers, things, or cards.
Trivia[]
- In Super Paper Mario, coin blocks containing multiple coins will have a glowing coin symbol imprinted on the side of them, something only visible when flipping to 3D.
