A NPC is a character who is not evil but is not playable. NPC stands for Non-Playable-Charachter. Sometimes this is confusing. Take Luigi for example; In the first two Paper Mario Games he is not playable therefore he is an NPC. But in Super Paper Mario he is playable. He would be in both categorys.
