Admiral Bobbery is a character from Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and one of Mario's partners in the game.

History

Bobbery first appears when Mario goes to find him to be Flavio's navigator so Mario could go to Keelhaul Key and get the fifth Crystal Star. Bobbery refuses, but it is revealed by Podley that while Bobbery was out at sea, his wife Scarlette died of a fever. Bobbery blamed himself, as he thinks that if he had been by Scarlette's side then she wouldn't have died. Unknown to Bobbery, Scarlette gave Podley a letter to give to Bobbery, but he couldn't do it after seeing Bobbery so upset. Mario then gives the letter to Bobbery, causing him to change his mind and be Flavio's navigator. Bobbery is separated from the crew when their ship is destroyed (coincidentally, they washed ashore at their destination) and when Mario finds him, Bobbery is apparently on the verge of death but asks Mario to bring him Chuckola Cola before he dies. After a little fiasco with Flavio, Mario brings Bobbery the Chuckola Cola. However, Bobbery doesn't die, but rather falls asleep. After being hit with Mario's Hammer, Bobbery decides to join Mario's party for the rest of the game.

Bobbery's main ability is the same as Bombette from the first Paper Mario, as he blows up walls with cracks in them, which is key to moving on at crucial points. He also can gain the player access to the Ultra Stone once Chapter 5 is completed. This allows the player to upgrade their party members to the max.

He does more damage than any partner in the game. But he can't pierce defense.

After defeating the Shadow Queen, Bobbery decides to live on Keelhaul Key and sets out for sea every now and then.
