? Blocks are recurring objects in the Paper Mario series. Mario and co. usually, jump and hit the blocks to release whatever item is inside. The block can hold coins, items, stickers, or cards.

In the first Paper Mario', ? Blocks are scattered across most areas and levels. Yellow ones release coins or items, and red ones release badges. Some blocks are invisible and must be found by using Watt.
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door[]
? Blocks reappear in the second installment with pretty much the same use as the first game. Yellow blocks still hold coins or items, and red blocks still hold badges. ? Blocks also appear during the Bowser Interludes, where Bowser can smash them to find meat.
Super Paper Mario[]

In Super Paper Mario, ? Blocks change their purpose a bit. ? Blocks now hold Pal Pills, Mega Stars, Slow Flowers, Speed Flowers, and mushrooms. They also have a more flashy appearance, reminiscent of the original Super Mario Bros.
Paper Mario: Sticker Star[]

? Blocks in this game function very similarly to the first two games, With the only difference being that instead of there being items inside them, they are stickers. The appearance of the block changes again in this game as well, with it looking similar to a block from the New Super Mario Bros. series. When hit, it is revealed that the outer shell of the block is made up of stickers.
Paper Mario: Color Splash[]
? Blocks now hold cards and have an appearance that of a cardboard box. Red blocks also make a return, but are not used for the same purpose and are called Unfurl Blocks.
